About Solfaboard
Solfaboard is a free music whiteboard that runs in the browser. It was made for music lessons: the teacher writes on the classroom screen, the students hear each note as it is placed, and note names appear when they help and disappear when they do not.
It is made by Roger Mir Abella, a saxophonist and music teacher in Barcelona, who also gives private lessons in music theory, harmony and improvisation.
What you can do
- Draw staves, or insert a ready-made treble, bass, alto or piano grand staff from Templates.
- Add clefs, key signatures, time signatures, notes from whole to sixteenth, rests, accidentals and bar lines, including repeats.
- Hear every note at its real pitch. The clef, the key signature and accidentals (which last until the next bar line) are all taken into account.
- Show note names in solfège or letters, for all notes or one at a time with the naming wand.
- Write with a pen or type text (in capitals by default), select, copy, move and resize anything.
- Zoom in and out, choose the board width, and keep scrolling down: the board grows as you use it.
- Play the staves from left to right, and download the board as a PNG picture.
- Use the live MIDI keyboard to show what you play.
Handy shortcuts
- ⌘/Ctrl + Z undo · ⌘/Ctrl + C / V copy and paste a selection · Delete clears a selection.
- ⌘/Ctrl + + / − / 0 zoom. On a tablet, pinch with two fingers to zoom and drag with two fingers to scroll.
- Hover over (or tab to) any button to see what it does.
Your work and your privacy
There is no account. Your board is saved automatically in your own browser and never sent to us. Read the privacy notice for the details.
